Sinn Fein representative Derry City Councillor-elect Bridget Meehan has expressed concern after a significant number of “bongs” along with aerosol cans were found in bushes next to the Corrody Road Park in the Top of the Hill area.

Mrs Meehan described the discovery as a ” very worrying development.”

She added: “There seems to be a rise in the number of such drug associated paraphernalia being discovered across the city in recent month’s. The bongs were found by a resident out walking his dog beside bushes at the only play facilities in the area.”

She concluded: “It’s a sad state of affairs but this once again highlights the need for secure play facilities for local children to play in without the risk of being exposed to material such as this.”
