The water supply to hundreds of homes in the Creggan area of Derry has been restored after emergency repairs to a burst water main.
Homes in the Creggan Heights, Circular Road and Ballygowan were left without water for most of yesterday.
Northern Ireland Water said the delay in getting the supply back on was because of the difficult nature of the repair.
A spokesperson said: “The repair was difficult due to the proximity of other services and cables to the watermain. However, the team completed the emergency repair work at approximately 11.00pm and the water supply will gradually return as the main recharges.”
The spokesperson concluded: “NI Water would like to thank customers in the area for their patience while this essential repair work was carried out.”
