TEEN KNOCKED DOWN AND SERIOUSLY INJURED ON BUNCRANA ROAD

Buncrana Road in Derry has reopened after being closed overnight due to a teenager being knocked down near Templemore Sports Complex in the city.

The scene at the accident on Buncrana Road.

The 17-year-old pedestrian was rushed to Altnagelvin Hospital with serious injuries.

The incident occurred close to the Buncrana Road-Templegrove junction shortly after 8.30pm.

The road had been closed from the Branch Roundabout and the entrance of Templegrove and traffic was diverted via Coshquin Road and Whitehouse.

The road has now reopened and traffic is flowing normally.

Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who was travelling on the Buncrana Road around this time to contact them at Strand Road Police Station on 0845 600 8000.
