DERRY CLIPPER EYES UP RACE 2 FINISH LINE

Race 2, Day 27: The Derry entry in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is currently in sixth place and less than 24 hours from the Rio de Janeiro finish line.1285-news-main

The Derry “LondonDerry” Doire is expected to cross the line at Marina da Gloria at 10.00am local time (3.00pm Irish time) tomorrow.

The Derry Clipper is an hour behind fifth placed One DLL and eight hours ahead of seventh-placed Old Pulteney.

Just two miles separates current leader PSP Logistics from second-placed Jamaica Get All Right who are expected to cross the finish line at 3.00am tomorrow (local time).

The 12th and last placed yacht Invest Africa, is not expected to cross the finish line until Wednesday.

The fleet will set sail from Rio on Saturday next, 12 October, at the start of Race 3 which – a 3,600 mile crossing to Cape Town, South Africa.
