Patrick (23) died suddenly in a New York Hospital on Tuesday of last week. Following his death numerous fundraising events were held to help his family meet the financial cost of returning his body to Derry.

However, the amount raised far exceeded the cost and his family announced at his funeral on Sunday – one of the biggest seen in Derry for many years – that the excess money was to be used to build a school for destitute children in India in his memory.

Patrick’s father, Damien, said the family were overwhelmed with the generosity of the people of Derry and said the excess money and returns from further fundraising would be passed on to local charity Action With Effect to construct the school.

Saturday’s fundraiser will take place at Pitchers Wine Bar and Restaurant at Foyle Golf Centre.

Tickets, priced £10 (also pay at the door), are available from the Bentley Bar (Linenhall Street), Fitzroys (Bridge Street), Quay West (Strand Road) and Tinney’s Bar (Patrick Street).

Entertainment will be provided by Stevie G, Conka (Freddie Mercury) McBride and disco with John Breslin. A raffle and auction will also take place. Doors open 8.00pm.
