LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHERS INVITED TO SPICE UP THEIR LIVES IN 2014 CALENADER

The photograph competition, organised by the Community Relations Section of Derry City Council, is an annual event aimed at encouraging community groups, schools or individuals to submit interesting images they may have of recent events, celebrations and activities for publication in their ‘Diversity is the Spice of Life” calendar.

The 12 winning photos will feature in the 2014 calendar celebrating diversity in the Derry City Council area in what has been a most significant year for the city and district.

The free calendar will promote the message that our “Diverse City” welcomes people from different communities, religions, cultures, traditions and identities.  Last year 6,000 copies were handed out free of charge.

Entry forms for the competition are available online at http://www.derrycity.gov.uk/GoodRelations/Publications

There are two categories in the competition – Youth (under 18) and Adults (18 or over) a limit of two photographs per entrant is in place and there are a number of prizes up for grabs including gift vouchers of £75, £50, £25 and runner-up certificates.

Entries must include a copy of the image(s) in digital jpeg format at high resolution (300 DPI).  This can be emailed to [email protected] or submitted on disc.

Entries must include a completed entry form (or entry form details in an e-mail) and preferably a print of the photo.  Photos must be taken in the Derry City Council district in last three years.

The photographer must have permission from people identifiable in the photograph (or relevant parent/guardian) to appear in the calendar and related publications. Photographers must be amateurs. Two photographs maximum per entrant (B&W or Colour); Photographs cannot be returned.

A judging panel will choose the winners and the decision is final.  Any winner in breach of the rules will have their prize withdrawn.; Prizes are non-transferable and non-negotiable.; Winning entrants grant Derry City Council licence to use/edit/publish/broadcast; the photograph in any Derry City Council marketing or publicity activity.

Derry City Council staff may not enter. Winners will be notified and invited to launch.
