POLICE say officers will be out across Derry this Easter weekend to ‘crack’ down on poor driving.
This year’s hash tag them is #NoEggcuses to point up the dangers of using mobile phones at the wheel or driving without a seatbelt this Bank Holiday weekend.
The PSNi campaign states: “Are you getting the message? Or is it still scrambled……????
“Mobile phones and driving do not mix!
“When driving the only thing you should be concentrating on is the road.”
The police are also advising to drivers and their passengers to wear their seat belts at all times.
“DOE statistics from 2014 show that 98% of car occupants were observed to be wearing their seatbelt.
“Please don’t be part of the 2% who do not.
“Remember wearing a seatbelt greatly improves your chance of avoiding death or serious injury in the event of a collision.
“It’s not only the law but it could also save your life.”
