Former Scunthorpe United defender Cliff Byrne has signed for Derry City.
The six foot Dubliner joins the Brandywell club after becoming a free agent.
The 31-year-old spent more than a decade at Glanford Park during which time he served as skipper of “The Iron.”
Byrne joined the Iron on loan from Sunderland in 2002 before making the switch permanent, going on to make 300 appearances before leaving for Oldham in 2012.
He returned to Glanford Park on loan earlier this season before being released by Oldham
Byrne becomes Roddy Collins’ sixth signing at Brandywell, the others being Mark Stewart, Roddy Collins Junior, Enda Curran, Danny Ventre and Ciaran Gallagher.
