Would you like to conquer your fear of speaking in public, enhance your communication skills, and develop your leadership potential? If you answer “yes” to any of these then Toastmasters is for you.
Foyle Speakers Toastmasters are holding an “Open Night” in the Verbal Arts Centre in Derry tomorrow from 8.00pm sharp until 10.00pm. Admission is free for guests and everyone is welcome.
On the night you will find out all about Toastmasters, observe a meeting in progress, listen to some speeches and evaluations of same, and be highly entertained.
Foyle Speakers Toastmasters meet in the Verbal Arts Centre at 8.00pm sharp every second Wednesday of every month from September to May.
A Toastmasters spokesperson said “in the cut and thrust” of today’s world the ability to communicate was vital.
The spokesperson added:”People who can express their ideas – so that they are listened to, understood and acted upon – possess one of the most important elements of leadership. So what can Toastmasters do for you?
“At Toastmasters you will become more confident, learn how to prepare a speech and enjoy speaking in public. You will learn how to think on your feet and be able to express your views clearly and confidently on any topic.
“You will be gradually encouraged if you wish to take on different roles at the meetings; this will improve your leadership capabilities and is something which you can then use to positive effect in your business or local community.”
The spokesperson added: “Toastmaster meetings are held in a warm friendly, non-judgemental atmosphere, where you will receive help and encouragement, at your own pace, from people who have benefitted enormously from Toastmasters themselves.”
