Partners include representatives from a range of community, statutory and voluntary organisations working together to deliver the outcomes identifies within the Strategic Growth Plan.
Members received a presentation from NI Water’s Head of Investment Management, Dr Stephen Blockwell, outlining the challenges faced in addressing issues with infrastructure development in light of ongoing budget constraints.
Members of the Strategic Growth Partnership heard more about plans to maximise existing infrastructure and promote developer led solutions, as well as preparations for local H2 developments.
A report was also brought to the partnership by David Glasgow from the NI Housing Executive on their strategy to support the Irish Travelling community in accessing affordable and good quality housing.
The partnership found out more about the challenges of identifying sites to locate culturally suitable accommodation and the HE’s planned approaches to address the issue.
Partners also received an update on the ongoing work to progress the UK Government’s Plan for Neighbourhoods (PfN) and the establishment of a local Neighbourhood Board.
The Board will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of a 10-year regeneration and a four-year investment plan which will complement the positive work already being done in local community areas.
Progress on meeting the objectives of the Strategic Growth Plan was also outlined today and the development of the 2025 Strategic Growth Plan Statement of Progress.
It was the first SGP Meeting co-chaired by the new Mayor of Derry and Strabane, Councillor Ruairí McHugh. Speaking afterwards Mayor McHugh paid tribute to all the partners for their work to date.

“The meetings provide an opportunity to showcase progress to date and focus on the work of all those involved in delivering societal change.”
