A weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued for right across the North of Ireland.
The Met Office yellow alert applies from 6am on Thursday until 9pm across Derry, Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh and Tyrone.
“Heavy rain and thunderstorms will move northwards across Northern Ireland during Thursday and may lead to some disruption in places,” it warns.
“The rain will be locally heavy with thunderstorms.
“A few places perhaps receiving 10-20 mm of rain in an hour, and 30-40 mm in 3 hours or less, leading to a risk of disruption.
“Winds will also be strong at times, perhaps gusting to 40-45 mph around hills and coasts.”
According to the weather forecaster, driving conditions could be affected by spray, standing water and possibly hail.
Travellers have been advised to expect longer journey times by car and bus.
Delays to train services are also possible
The yellow warning states that some flooding is likely which could lead to damage to homes and businesses.
Short term loss of power and other services is also likely.
