A woman who sadly died following a collision between a car and a van in Donegal on Friday night has been named locally.

The victim of the tragedy was Ms Susan Hamilton who was from Manorcunningham.

The late Ms Hamilton was 74-year-old and a mother-of-four.

She is the seventh person to die on Donegal’s roads this year.

Ms Hamilton was involved in a crash which occurred at Bunlin Bridge on the Milford to Cranford Road at around 7.30pm.

Ms Hamilton, a mother-of-four, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has been removed to Letterkenny University Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The driver of the van, a man aged in his 50s, was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The road on which the crash occurred reopened this afternoon at 4pm following an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Head of the Garda Road Traffic Corps in Co Donegal, Inspector Sean McDaid, appealed for any witnesses to the crash to come forward.
