Bernie Cranley tragically died in A5 crash

The PSNI have confirmed that a woman from Donegal aged in her 80s has died following a collision that occurred outside Omagh yesterday.

82-year-old Bernadette (Bernie) Cranley from Lifford was killed in the two-car collision, which took place on the Mellon Road between Omagh and Newtownstewart at around 12:30pm.

The Mellon Road is located just off the A5, near the Ulster American Folk Park.

Bernadette was the driver of a silver Toyota Vitz, which was involved in a collision with a blue Suzuki Vitara.

The driver of the Suzuki, a woman aged in her 70s, was rushed to hospital for treatment of serious injuries sustained in the collision.

Police are appealing to any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Inspector Cherith Adair, from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit, said in a statement: “Our enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of the collision.

“We would like to hear from witnesses or anyone who may have captured dash-cam footage which could assist us.”

The number to call is 101, quoting reference 704 of 24/05/25.
