Gardaí are appealing for information after four masked men smashed up a house in east Donegal last Friday morning before fleeing in a getaway car towards the border.

The incident happened in the border village of Castlefin just before 10am.

Four men wearing balaclavas targeted a house in the Emmet Park area and smashed a number of windows.

It is not understood that anybody was hurt during the attack.

The gang then fled on foot and jumped into their waiting car which was being driven by another man.

Local eye-witnesses said the red car, possibly a Vauxhall Insignia, drove off in the direction of Lifford/Strabane.

A Garda spokesperson appealed for information in relation to the incident.

Those with information are urged to get in touch with Gardaí in Letterkenny Gardaí on 074-9167100.

The Garda Confidential Line may also be contacted on 1800 666 111.
