Tributes have been paid tor a “devoted father” who tragically died in a farming accident in Co Tyrone on Tuesday.

Emergency services responded to an incident in the Pullytean Road area of Castlederg on Tuesday.

Mr Logue, aged in his 40s, tragically died at the scene.

Sinn Fein Derg councillor Caroline Devine, said the community was “shocked” by the loss of the young father.

“Aghyaran is a tight knit rural community, everybody knows each other. So John and his family are well known,” she said.

“The whole community is just really shocked, it is such a tragic loss.

“I would like to offer my condolences to the family.”

In a post on social media, a spokesperson for The Anglers Inn expressed their sympathies and paid tribute to their late patron.

“We are very sorry to hear of the tragic passing of local man John Logue, a familiar face here at the bar,” they said.

“John was a devoted father whose face lit up when chatting about his son, our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.”

One comment in response to the pub’s tribute read: “Heartbreaking news, John was such a kind caring person. Thinking of all the family at such a sad time.”

The NI Ambulance Service (NIAS) said they attended an incident in the area at 5.24 pm on Tuesday.

“NIAS despatched one rapid response paramedic to the incident,” said a spokesperson.

“No patients were taken from the scene.”

Two fire appliances from Castlederg Fire Station and a specialist rescue team also attended the scene.

A spokesperson for the NI Fire Service said: “Firefighters were called to reports of a rescue on Pullytean Road, Killeter, Castlederg.

“Unfortunately one person died at the scene.

“Firefighters made the scene safe and the Health and Safety Executive were informed about the incident. Firefighters left the scene at 10.45pm.”

The PSNI added: “The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time and the Health and Safety Executive have been informed.”

A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Executive said: “We are working to establish the facts surrounding the incident and while our enquiries are ongoing it would not be appropriate to comment.”
