People Before Profit MLA Gerry Carroll is hosting a public consultation on his People’s Housing Bill Wednesday January 15, 7pm on Zoom.

Registration for the Zoom Consultation Meeting is available here: bit.ly/3DQZSj7

The bill consultation is available here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeJDKNbuIeAcbF8LTTcKm442gtnuOUYu_W7m3s6P7SzrpwDVw/viewform
Derry People Before Profit Councillor Shaun Harkin is encouraging people to participate in the consultation and help build a movement for housing for all.

People Before Profit Cllr Shaun Harkin said: “The Housing Crisis isn’t being addressed by the Stormont Executive.

“Derry has more than 6,000 families and individuals trapped on the housing waiting list.

“Across the North, there are 90,000 people on the waiting list.

“The solution to housing scarcity is building more houses.

“Stormont’s Housing Supply Strategy was announced to much fanfare but it isn’t funded and the building of social housing has been downgraded.

“MLA Gerry Carroll’s Private Members Bill comes at a crucial time.

“The bill aims to address spiralling rental costs with regulation, the utilisation of thousands of empty houses, call time on unfair evictions and end homelessness.

“We need to keep up the pressure on Stormont to build more social housing but good proposals aren’t enough. We need a people power campaign to make a difference.

“I encourage as many people as possible to participate in the consultation for Gerry Carroll’s housing bill.

“We need a people power campaign that unites our communities to end housing scarcity and make sure good quality, affordable housing is available to everyone.”
