United Against Racism NW: Fascist thugs will not win

United Against Racism North West have condemned the painting of Nazi graffiti on multiple properties in Antrim Town.

Spokesperson Davy McAuley described those who painted the swastikas and support for the proscribed terror group Combat 18 as pathetic.

Said Mr McAuley: “These thugs are engaged in a campaign of terror in Antrim.

“From sectarian attacks on the home of a disabled child to painting this filth on gable walls.

“Their racism and hate will never win. The people of Antrim will come together to stop them in their tracks.

“Recently there was a spate of racist attacks on NHS workers, people who have come here to save lives.

“It shows the mentality of these people when their targets are disabled children and medical professionals.

“The bigots who do this have not suddenly appeared out of nowhere. They have been empowered by the racist hate that has been mainstreamed by leading politicians.

“When refugees are scapegoated for the failures of Tory politicians and the Labour Party instead of defending them spread the same hate, the bootboys of fascism step in.

“When local politicians are engaged in dog whistle racism, the bootboys are empowered.

“UAR will not allow hate to normalised.

“We stand against fascism. The people united will defeat these thugs.

“Racists will never win.”
