Police conducting anti-drink driving operation in Derry

THE PSNI is warning the public about the dangers of taking alcohol or drugs before getting behind the wheel of cars during the Easter holidays.

Police Derry City and Strabane say: “We’ve had reports of drink-driving, locally, and arrests have been made.

“It’s disappointing a minority of people continue to disregard the safety of themselves and others, by taking the incredibly dangerous risk of driving after drinking or taking drugs.

“We’ll continue to take action to keep our roads safe and will be out across the city and district, carrying out proactive policing patrols at any time of day or night as we continue to target those minority of people who disregard driving laws.

“Driving with drink or drugs, drastically increases the chances of a causing a collision.

“It only takes one drink.

“If you’re driving, don’t drink any alcohol at all.

“Our message is clear.

“Never EVER drink and drive.

“Just one drink can impair decision making.

“Just one drink can cause a collision.

“Just one drink could kill.”
