People Before Profit to Launch Palestine Pamphlet in Derry

People Before Profit in Derry will have a Derry launch for their new pamphlet on Palestine this Wednesday night, March 27.

The launch will be part of ‘Anti-Apartheid Week’ a global initiative to protest against the actions of the Israeli State.

The launch will take place in Little Acorns Bookstore on Great James Street at 7pm.

Launching the pamphlet will be traditional singer and political activist Eoghan Ó’Ceannabháin, winner of the RTÉ Best Folk Singer as well as Best Original Folk Track for ‘Anáil na hOíche’.

A PBP spokesperson outlined what people can expect in the new publication: “This new pamphlet from People Before Profit demonstrates that the genocidal horror being visited on the people of Gaza is not an aberration or reaction to Hamas but is the logical outworking of a state that has been based since its inception on systematic crimes against the Palestinian people – the crimes of ethnic cleansing, apartheid, illegal occupation, and relentless persecution, killing and dispossession of Palestinians.

“The pamphlet demonstrates that anti-zionism is not antisemitism, but a principled anti-racist position which opposes oppression and colonialism.

“The pamphlet clarifies that the slogan “from the river to the sea – Palestine will be free” is not an antisemitic slogan but rather a call for an end to apartheid, occupation and oppression and the establishment of a state based on freedom and equality for all, whether they are Jewish, Muslim, Christian or of no religion. ”

From the River to the Sea – The Struggle for Palestinian Liberation will be available to purchase on the night or from Little Acorns Books after the event and from the PBP office.
