As part of the programme of events for Culture Night 2023, Derry City and Strabane District Council will host ‘Caint agus Ceol’; an interactive talk and singing workshop with Michelle Nic Pháidín based on the traditional sean-nós music and musicians of Ulster.

Michelle lives in Derrybeg in Donegal and she is a renowned and well known journalist and writer who is currently working with the Donegal Democrat.

She is also a past winner of Corn Mháire Nic Dhonnchadha at the Oireachtas and she also regularly sings at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.

Speaking ahead of the event, Irish Language Officer with Derry City and Strabane District Council – Erin Hamilton said:

“We’re delighted that Michelle Nic Pháidín will be with us in the Guildhall in Derry on Culture Night for this wonderful event that will give the audience an amazing insight into the traditional sean-nós music and musicians of Ulster.

“Demand for this dual-language event will be high, so I would encourage anyone interested in attending to book early.”
