Holly Gormley was a P7 pupil at St Catherine’s Primary School

The funeral for Strabane schoolgirl Holly Gormley will be held in Lifford this week.

Holly, a much-adored 11-year-old, passed away last week from a rare blood condition.

Holly was diagnosed with aplastic anaemia just five months ago.

The daughter of Claire and Gareth, and sister of JD, she was a ‘precious’ pupil of St Catherine’s Primary School. She was also a promising young athlete with the Lifford Strabane Athletic Club.

“Holly was a lovely energetic young child, and showed lots of potential in the sport, actively taking part in all events. Holly showed great enthusiasm and had many friends at the club,” said a tribute from the club.

The club will be part of a guard of honour at Holly’s funeral on Monday.

A family notice reads: “Reposing at her home on Saturday (July 22nd) from 10am.

“Funeral leaving her home on Monday (July 24th) at 11.20am. for Requiem Mass in St Patrick`s Church, Murlog, Lifford at 12 noon.

“Deeply regretted by her heartbroken mammy, daddy, brother, granny, granda, aunts, uncle and family circle.

“Donations in lieu of flowers please to PICU, Ward 12, Great North Children`s Hospital.”
