Former Highland Radio host the Rev Shaun Doherty will be ordained into the priesthood this today, Sunday, July 2, at St Eugene’s Cathedral in Derry.

Friends and family, many from across Donegal, have been invited to join Shaun on his amazing journey from the radio waves to serving God.

Arguably Highland Radio’s most popular presenter, Shaun left the station six years ago to start new projects.

But many of his former listeners were surprised to discover a short time later that he was studying to become a priest.

He was later ordained a Deacon at St Paul’s Basically in Rome in 2022 where he has continued his studies.

He is expected to serve in the Derry Diocese once he has been ordained.

The ordination takes place at 3pm and will be celebrated by the Bishop of Derry, the Most Reverend Donal McKeown.

There will also be a welcome reception in the Iosas Centre and Celtic Prayer Centre near Muff.

Once ordained, Fr Doherty will celebrate his first mass in Derry on Monday evening.
