Derry City and Strabane District Council, in partnership with Derry City FC, is hosting an Information Day this Wednesday, May 31, for local residents to view proposals for a safe standing terrace at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium.

Council is working alongside Derry City FC and their design team to develop a new covered safe standing terrace at the Brandywell Road end of the pitch.

A full planning application has been submitted by Derry City FC and attendees at the Information Day will have an opportunity to review the proposed safe standing terrace and meet with representatives from the Club and their design team, along with Council officers to discuss the proposals.

Encouraging the local community to get involved and have their say, Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Sandra Duffy, said the Information Day is an excellent opportunity for local residents to raise any concerns, or comments they may have on the proposals, which will be in addition to and separate from, the normal planning neighbour notification process.

“Council and Derry City FC have been working closely on this project and are keen to engage with the local community to keep them fully informed of the project throughout the process.

“Letters are being delivered to those living in the area inviting them to attend and to have their say,” she said.

Mark McIvor, Director at MCI Planning, said the Information Day is a great opportunity for local residents to view the proposals and meet with the design team.

“There will be consultation boards displaying planning application drawings and a computer generated image of the proposed safe standing terrace.

Feedback from attendees will be collected by the design team and shared with Planning Officers at the Council ensuring that all contributions are heard”.

The Information Day event will be held at the Mark Farren Stand – Function Room at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 11 am to 3 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm.

The plans can also be viewed on Council’s and DCFC’s planning consultant’s websites and comments made on the proposals:-
