Appeal for urgent resurfacing of Eglinton’s Woodvale Road

People Before Profit’s Faughan representative Damian Gallagher

People Before Profit’s Faughan representative has called on the Department of Infrastructure to urgently carry out resurfacing of Woodvale Road in Eglinton.

Said Mr Gallagher: “The issue of unsuitable large HGV lorries using the village of Eglinton as a short cut and the negative impact that this is having upon local homes, people and the environment is well noted.

“However, there is an urgent need to address the dangerously poor state of the Woodvale Road surface itself.

“The road markings warning for ‘school’ at Dunverne Gardens and close to the two bus stops is nearly now
unreadable due to traffic erosion.

“The road is clearly showing signs of rapid disintegration in many parts and I would appeal to all pedestrians and residents to exercise caution in the area and to ask drivers to please slow down.

“I have written to DFI asking them to address this as a matter of urgency and ensure the safety of schoolchildren, road users and pedestrians using the area.”
