People Before Profit Faughan representative Damian Gallagher has praised Derry City and Strabane District Council for their swift response to a request he has made for more bins for dog waste in the Prehen area.

The PBP representative said he was acting on the concerns of local residents who he describes as “fed up” with the amount of dog fouling on their streets.

“I have visited Prehen and saw for myself that the streets are filthy because people have not cleaned up after their dogs,” said Mr Gallagher

“The onus is on the individual dog walkers to clean up but without the appropriate bins people are clearly reluctant to do so.

“The Council have guaranteed that they will do a full audit of the dog fouling bins in the area as a matter of priority.”
