Norris concerned at removal of evening bus service to Strathfoyle

SDLP councillor Declan Norris

SDLP Faughan Councillor Declan Norris has expressed serious concerns around the removal of the Translink 145c evening bus service as a result of antisocial behaviour.

Said Cllr Norris: “It is deeply concerning that acts of antisocial behaviour have forced Translink to pull the late evening bus service from the city centre.

“Our community is suffering due to the actions of the minority involved in these reckless and cowardly attacks on bus drivers and passengers. I would urge parents to be aware of the whereabouts of their children in the evenings.

“This bus service is a lifeline for some commuters and those without access to private transport.

“At a time when Translink is under significant financial pressure and, as elected representatives,we are doing all we can to resist any reductions in services.

“It is hugely frustrating and disheartening that the actions of this small group of passengers should jeopardise the service to Strathfoyle.

“Along with my SDLP colleague, Mark H Durkan MLA I will be working with Translink and local community representatives to find a solution to this problem to ensure this vital service can be restored for local people.”
