People Before Profit Waterside representative Davina Pulis

People Before Profit has condemned the sectarian threats sprayed onto the walls of the Tullyally Shopping Centre.

Davina Pulis, People Before Profit representative in the Waterside, has laid the blame for the rise in sectarian tensions firmly at the door of the DUP.

Said Ms Pulis: “Sectarianism instead of being challenged is being exploited by the Democratic Unionist Party, who these days seem to take their counsel from representatives of the paramilitary linked Loyalist Communities Council.

“Sectarian attitudes and bigotry do nothing to advance working class communities. At a time of great poverty and deprivation, working class communities must come together.

“The actions of the bigots who daubed walls are echoes of the failed political leadership of the DUP.

“No doubt this sickening graffiti will be condemned by political parties of all shades, however it will be incredible hypocrisy from those who fester divisions to then condemn those carry out these actions. ”

Pulis has praised the local community for removing the sick threats so quickly.

“These words and threats do not represent the people of Tullyally and their swift removal illustrates that point,” she added.
