SDLP Foyleside Councillor Shauna Cusack has welcomed the unanimous support of the Council’s Business and Culture Committee for a new ‘Home of Derry Girls’ pilot exhibition in the Tower Museum.

Cllr. Cusack proposed the move, which will also establish a new Derry Girls trail taking in key filming locations.

Said Cllr Cusack: “This is a hugely exciting development for our city and I was very proud to have proposed that Council proceeded with this pilot exhibition at the Tower Museum.

“Many tourists already come to Derry each and every year to retrace their favourite moments from the show and see first hand the locations where such an iconic TV show was filmed.

“It is only right that we build on that offering by establishing this exhibition and allow visitors to explore some of the sets and props from the beloved show.

“I have no doubt that this exhibition will be successful and hope it will lead to a much bigger and permanent visitor experience in the city centred on the show that has brought our home to a world stage.”

SDLP Foyle MLA Sinéad McLaughlin added: “Few people could have imagined the reception that Derry Girls has had, both here at home and around the world, bringing joy and entertainment to so many people.

“I am very pleased that we are taking further steps to show the huge contribution this area has made to entertainment and expand our tourism offering in the city.”
