Man charged over Derry Saoradh bomb window display

Detectives investigating the circumstances of a window display at premises on Chamberlain Street in Derry have arrested a 22-year-old man.

He was detained on suspicion of committing an offence under Section 13 Terrorism Act 2000.

He has been charged to appear at the Courthouse, Bishop Street this morning, Thursday, December 22.

The Christmas themed window display went up last month at the offices of dissident political group Saoradh which shows a snowman pressing a bomb trigger.

The image at Junior McDaid House is accompanied by the phrase “they haven’t gone away ye know” – referencing the well-known Provisional IRA phrase used in the past.

The display features the snowman in the image dressed in traditional republican attire and Father Christmas appears to be holding a walkie-talkie device.
