Police investigating vehicle hijacking bids in Derry

Police in Derry are appealing for witnesses following the attempted hijacking of two vehicles.

The incidents happened at approximately half past three yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, December 20, in the vicinity of Woodburn Park in the Waterside area of the city.

A police spokesperson said: “It was reported that in both incidents a male has threatened drivers with a weapon.

“Three males are believed to be involved in the incident.

“One is described as 5 foot 8, wearing a dark hoodie, a blue face mask, short dark hair, medium build and possibly in his thirties.

“A second male is described as wearing a sleeveless high visibility jacket with black sweatshirt underneath, approximately 5 foot 9 inches, with light brown/grey hair and the third male is described as wearing a baseball cap.

“Police are urging any member of the public who witnessed the incident or who may have Dash Cam footage to contact police quoting police reference number 1268 of 20/12/22.”
