Cusack calls for considerate parking during the festival weekend

SDLP Foyleside Councillor Shauna Cusack

SDLP Foyleside Councillor Shauna Cusack has asked people to be considerate of other road users, residents and pedestrians when parking to attend the Clipper and Foyle Cup events this weekend.

Said Cllr Cusack: “With so many people looking to get as close as possible to the action, parking is always going to be difficult.

“However, this is not an excuse for inconsiderate or even dangerous parking.

“I have had a number of complaints from constituents regarding parking on pavements, corners and double yellows making exiting or navigating some areas extremely hazardous.

“Personally, I have seen access to people’s homes disrespected, pavements impassable forcing families onto the road, even the exit to a whole block of flats blocked.

“While we are delighted that so many are keen to see and enjoy the City at its finest during the Maritime and Foyle Cup festivals, I would ask that drivers be considerate and don’t let their actions either ruin the experience for others, or worse, put them in danger.”
