Boris Johnson faced calls to quit over ‘Partygate’ at Downing Street but refused to stand down
Johnson will publicly announce his resignation later today.
A No 10 spokesman said: “The prime minister will make a statement to the country today.”
Johnson had been under pressure to resign after five Cabinet ministers and 57 of his MPs quit their posts over his lack of integrity and honesty over a series of incidents, including the ‘Partygate’ scandal in Downing Street during the Covid-19 lockdown.
