Police in Derry have donated a quantity of DIY tools to a local community group.

They were found in the Ballyarnett area six months ago but police have been unable to reunite the tools with its rightful owner.

A local police spokesperson said: “Following on from our social media post in respect of power tools found within the Ballyarnett DEA on December 10, 2021.

“We were unable to reunite the tradesman with his tools despite a good response and interaction with various members of the public.

“As a significant amount of time had passed we spoke with the reporting person who found the tools.

“This tradesman stated that he would be happy if they were donated to a local voluntary or community group who could put them to good use.

“As a result, Ballyarnett Npt were delighted to be able to pass these items onto Leafair Community Association.

“We have no doubt these tools will be put to good use and will benefit the local residents of Leafair and the surrounding area.”
