Saoradh claim Billy Elliott was working for British Security Services in Derry

The New IRA’s political wing has claimed that it has unmasked a British agent within its ranks.

Saoradh has taken to social media to name the alleged MI5 informer as Billy Elliott.

It is claimed to have been closed a former senior member of Saoradh in Derry.

In a statement, the dissident republican group say: “Today, 17th May 2022, Saoradh are highlighting the continued use of the British strategy of using informers.

“A local man, who we now name as Billy Elliot, was working for British State Services.

“This man was used to target local Republicans in the Creggan area of Derry.

“Saoradh can confirm that Billy Elliot was not a member of the party, but was on the periphery of some activism by local members.

“We believe that Billy Elliot is with his handlers in England.

“Billy Elliot has now thrown away his life, and for what?

“Saoradh call on anyone who has been compromised or approached by British Intelligence Services to come forward and safely remove yourself from this dangerous activity.”

Two years ago it was revealed that Dennis McFadden had infiltrated both Saoradh and the New IRA for MI5.

He provided rent properties for two leadership meetings of the New IRA in Tyrone.

MI5 operatives planted microphones and video recording equipment in both properties as part of the covert Operation Arbacia.

As a result ten people were arrested in August 2020 – eight men and two women – were charged with a total of 39 offences, including directing terrorism and trying to obtain Semtex explosives.

McFadden will not be called to give evidence at their trial and has now been rehoused by MI5 at a secret address in mainland UK with his partner and child.

Two weeks before the arrests, Denis ‘The Rat’ McFadden was moved out of his Glengormley home in Co Antrim and put up in a safe house within MI5’s headquarters at Palace Barracks in Holywood, Co Down.
