Sadness as Derry woman Shauna McDevitt tragically dies in crash

Shauna McDevitt who tragically lost her life in a car accident on Sunday night

THERE has been an outpouring of heartfelt sadness at the tragic death of Derry woman Shauna McDevitt.

Police have confirmed the 47-year-old lost her life in a car accident last night.

Shauna died as a result of a road traffic collision on the Toome Bypass on Sunday, April 10.

A man, aged in his 50’s, remains in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

Friends have taken to social media to express their deep sorrow at Shauna’s tragic death.

One devastated friend posted: “Heaven has really gained a beautiful angel Wayyyyy to soon ❤️❤️❤️

“The most amazing loving girl ever.

“RIP.”

Another post this picture saying: “I’ll never forget this day …….. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

“Sista sistas 💔⭐️

“RIP Shauna Mcdevitt.”

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Enquiries are continuing and officers from the Collision Investigation Unit would ask anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the collision, or who may have dash-cam footage that could assist with their investigation, to contact them in Sprucefield on 101, quoting reference number 1864 10/04/22.

“Alternatively, you can submit a report online using the non-emergency reporting form via
