DUP Foyle MLA Gary Middleton has welcomed the announcement by Education Minister Michelle McIlveen of a £28million construction contract for a new build Ardnashee School and College, forming part of a total £34million capital investment in the project.

Said Mr Middleton: “Today’s announcement is fantastic for the pupils, parents, staff, and governors of Ardnashee School and College.

“Their hard work and effort has paid off.

“I want to thank the Department for Education for getting the project to this stage and for their commitment to the North West.

“This investment will provide state-of-the-art facilities for the school which caters for children aged 3 to 19 years with profound and multiple, severe and moderate learning difficulties.

“I am delighted that the project will be able to get underway this Spring, with an estimated completion time of 30 months.

“I look forward to seeing the progress over the coming months.”
