THE Department of Health has reported two further Covid-19-related deaths over the past 24 hours in the North of Ireland.
None of these latest deaths was recorded outside the current reporting period.
Deaths are measured by recording those who died within 28 days of receiving a positive result in a test for Coronavirus.
The total number of deaths linked to Covid-19 in North of Ireland recorded by the Department of Health since the start of the pandemic is at 3,197.
None of these latest deaths was recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
Today’s data from the Department of Health shows there has been a further 2,068 positive cases of Coronavirus in the North of Ireland, a fall of 418 on figures given yesterday for Tuesday.
It includes cases confirmed from samples taken in previous days, not necessarily just in the latest 24-hour reporting period.
As of today, the number of positive cases confirmed in the past seven days was 15,987.
The statistics show that in the past 24 hours there has been a further 133 Covid-19 cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a fall of 57 on figures given yesterday for Wednesday.
Over the past seven days, there were 1,176 cases recorded in the Derry and Strabane Council area.
The infection rates within Derry and Strabane is now the sixth lowest of all 11 councils in the North of Ireland with 778 cases per 100,000.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals remains at 107 per cent.
The Department of Health now records that 206 people (mostly in hospitals) have died from Coronavirus in the Derry City and Strabane Council area.
There are currently 485 patients with Covid-19 in hospitals here.
There are eight patients with Covid-19 being treated in intensive care units, with five people on ventilators.
There are 22 people being treated in Altnagelvin Hospital with Coronavirus and no persons with Covid-19 in intensive care.
The figures show that 10.67 per cent of beds in Altnagelvin Hospital are occupied by people with Coronavirus and it is running at 6.18 per cent over capacity for beds.
The Department of Health reports that 165 care homes in the North of Ireland are dealing with an outbreak of Coronavirus, with 1,243 closed cases of Covid-19 in care homes here.
In the Western Trust area, 22 of its 67 care homes are dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak.
A total of 3,717,887 vaccines for Covid-19 have been administered in the North of Ireland as of Friday.Tags:
