SDLP Foyle MLA Sinead McLaughlin

THE SDLP’s Sinéad McLaughlin has regretted the notice of closure of the Post Office branch at Culmore, Derry.

Said the Foyle MLA: “The Post Office branch at Culmore is a well used and important facility for the Culmore community.

!It is of enormous regret that notice has been given that this is to close. It will be a serious loss to people living in the area.

“I find it very sad that communities across the North have lost Post Office branches.

“These play a vital role not merely as places where customers conduct transactions, but also as meeting places that bind communities together.

“In recent years Post Office branches have replaced many of the bank branches that have also been closed.

“We have to be very aware of the damage that is being caused to communities by the loss of local facilities.

“The impact on older residents and those without cars is particularly serious,” she added.
