Four released over 2019 dissident republican assault

DETECTIVES carrying out an investigation into a paramilitary-style attack in 2019 and criminality linked to violent dissident republican activity have released four people arrested as part of the inquiry.

Searches were carried out on Thursday, February 3, in the Strabane and surrounding area.

A number of items were seized for examination.

Two men arrested, both aged 34, arrested in the area were released on Friday evening along with a A 28-year-old woman who was arrested in Merseyside by officers from Counter Terrorism Policing North West and Merseyside Police.

A third man, aged 52, who was arrested in Belfast on Thursday night as part of the investigation, was released this morning, Saturday, February 5.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “The investigation continues.”
