THE Department of Health has reported three further Covid-19-related deaths (none outside the current recording period) in the past 24 hours in the North of Ireland.
Deaths are measured by recording those who died within 28 days of receiving a positive result in a test for Coronavirus.
The total number of deaths linked to Covid-19 in North of Ireland recorded by the Department of Health since the start of the pandemic is at 3,123.
None of these latest four deaths were recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
Today’s data from the Department of Health shows there has been a further 4,203 positive cases of Coronavirus in the North of Ireland, a fall of 566 on figures given yesterday for Tuesday.
It includes cases confirmed from samples taken in previous days, not necessarily just in the latest 24-hour reporting period.
As of today, the number of positive cases confirmed in the past seven days was 28,163.
The statistics show that in the past 24 hours there has been a further 203 Covid-19 cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a rise of 24 on figures given yesterday for Tuesday.
Over the past seven days, there were 1,261 cases recorded in the Derry and Strabane Council area.
The infection rates within Derry and Strabane is still the lowest of all 11 councils in the North of Ireland with 834 cases per 100,000.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now up 105 per cent.
The Department of Health now records that 201 people (mostly in hospitals) have died from Coronavirus in the Derry City and Strabane Council area.
There are currently 354 patients with Covid-19 in hospital here.
There are 11 patients with Covid-19 being treated in intensive care units, with seven people on ventilators.
There are 32 people being treated in Altnagelvin Hospital with Coronavirus with no one with Covid-19 in intensive care.
The figures show that 8.17 per cent of beds in Altnagelvin Hospital are occupied by people with Coronavirus and it is running at 1.97 per cent under capacity for beds.
The Department of Health reports that 178 care homes in the North of Ireland are dealing with an outbreak of Coronavirus, with 1,150 closed cases of Covid-19 in care homes here.
In the Western Trust area, 2 of its 67 care homes are dealing with a Coronavirus outbreak.
A total of 3,674,504 vaccines for Covid-19 had been administered in Northern Ireland as of Wednesday.
