SDLP representatives have welcomed traffic safety improvements to be carried out on Gortica Road in Drumahoe.

These involve the removal of a hedge which causes a dangerous blind spot on Gortica Road, as well as the carrying out of a road surface repair.

Said Foyle MLA Sinead McLaughlin: “I appreciate the speedy response from the Department for Infrastructure officials in dealing with concerns raised with myself and councillor Martin Reilly by local residents.

“It is essential that concerns such as these are raised with political representatives such as ourselves, so that we can arrange for improvements to be carried out.”

Councillor Reilly added: “I welcome the commitment from Department for Infrastructure officials to have additional patching repair works carried out on this road.

“I’d encourage anyone with concerns about the condition of the road network where they live to get in touch with the SDLP so that we can work with roads officials to find solutions.”
