Detectives from PSNI’s Major Investigation Team, investigating the murder of 37 year old Katie Brankin have been granted further time to question a suspect.

Ms Brankin was found stabbed to death at outdoor holiday accommodation on Seacoast Road in Limavady on Monday, July 12.

A senior MIT detective went to a magistrate’s court earlier today where a district judge granted police a further 36 hours to question a 53 year old man arrested on suspicion of her murder.

The victim and the arrested man were said to have beene in a relationship.

Police said earlier today that Ms Brankin was from the Newtownabbey area of Co Antrim.
