DERRY City FC say it is delighted to announce that Jamie McGonigle has joined the club on a three-and-a-half year deal from Crusaders.

The 25-year old striker moved to the Belfast club from Coleraine in 2019 for a record Irish League transfer fee after a prolific four seasons with the Bannsiders.

His goals include the fast ever hat-trick in Northern Irish senior football, scoring three in as many minutes against Scirocco Works.

Manager Ruaidhri Higgins says that McGonigle is exactly the type of player he wants to bring to the club.

“I’m delighted to get the deal done today and I know what type of player we’re getting. He is local to the north west and his superb goal-scoring record speaks for itself.

“Jamie has scored goals wherever he has played including at Crusaders where he spent much of the time playing in wider positions.

“It’s a great piece of business for us and the fact that it’s another long term contract shows that we remain committed to our plan.

“Jamie is a player that is really going to excite Derry City supporters and we can’t wait to get him started.”
