Disappointment over delay in Derry window replacement scheme

Sinn Fein Foyleside councillor Conor Heaney

SINN Féin’s Foyleside representative Conor Heaney has expressed disappointment that there have been further delays to the Housing Executives window replacement scheme for Ballymagroarty.

He said that residents had waited long enough for the project to begin:

Said Cllr Heaney: “Sinn Féin have been lobbying the Housing Executive on this issue for a number of years.

“Residents were therefore delighted when the scheme was announced in 2019 only to be delayed by the Covid pandemic.

“Despite assurances that the roll out of the scheme would begin in early 2021 we have now been informed that work is not due to start until the middle of August.

“We are now seeking an urgent meeting to discuss how the project could be accelerated.

“Many of the existing windows in the Housing Executives properties are in an extremely poor state of repair and need to be addressed urgently.”
