No further deaths, 97 new cases in North

THE Department of Health has reported a further 97 cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.

That’s a rise of eight on figures given yesterday for Saturday.

There has been no further deaths from the deadly virus with the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, now at 2,129.

In the past week, the Department has recorded 717 new cases of Coronavirus.

There has been a further 15 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council in the past 24 hours, a fall of 11 on the previous day.

Within the past week there have been a further 130 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area – the highest number of new cases in any of the 11 council’s here.

That means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 11,866 positive cases within the council boundary – the fourth highest among all 11 councils in the North.

The Department has recorded a total of 135 coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all councils here.

Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now at 96 cent.

There are currently 84 patients in hospital with Coronavirus, eight of whom are being treated in intensive care with six patients on ventilators.

A total of five care homes are dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak with a further 645 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
