No further deaths, 143 new cases in North

THE Department of Health has announced a further 146 more cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.

That’s a fall of three cases on figures given yesterday for Friday.

There has been no further deaths from the deadling virus with the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, remaining at 2,098.

In the past week, the Department has recorded 1,311 new cases of Coronavirus.

There has been a further 11 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council in the past 24 hours, a fall of two on the previous day.

Within the past week there have been a further 79 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.

That means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 11,318 positive cases within the council boundary.

The Department has now recorded a total of 134 coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all 11 councils in the North of Ireland.

Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now at 93 per cent.

There are currently 180 patients in hospital with Coronavirus, with 23 patients currently in intensive care and 18 patients who are on ventilators.

A total of 14 care homes are dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak with a further 628 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
