Revamp work carried out on Foyle Pigeon Hub
Councillor Logue said: “I would like to commend DCSDC for the work they have undertaken at the Foyle Pigeon Society clubhouse on Foyle Road.
“The Council have carried out the refurbishment of both the interior and the outside of the clubhouse.
“They have also installed new paths and carried out safety works outside the perimeter of the building.
“The work also included the installation of new fire alarms, new cladding on the outside and new lighting.
“This will give the members a safe, secure and comfortable clubhouse to meet in post lockdown.
“The club house has also been used as a community facility for other events in the area like fundraising for Macmillan parties for kids in the area.
“It is also used by pigeon fanciers from Derry and as far as Strabane and Omagh for the section races that take place in these areas.
“In the past members would have had to travel to Coleraine to take part in these races so the club has been a big life saver for the older pigeon fanciers who would have had to go out of the sport due to the lack of transport.”
