SDLP councillor and Chair of Derry and Strabane PCSP Martin Reilly

LOCAL politicians have condemned a gun attack on a teenage male on Saturday night, February 27.

The attack happened at Milldale Crescent in the Currynierin of the Waterside.

SDLP Chairperson of Derry City and Strabane District Council’s Policing Community Safety Partnership Councillor Martin Reilly said: “The shooting of a young man in Currynierin is completely wrong.

“There can be no justification for such a brutal act.

“Anyone with information on who carried out this shooting should get in touch with the PSNI immediately on the 101 number or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Sinn Fein Councillor Paul Fleming said: “There is no place for guns on our streets.

“Those responsible should get off the backs of the community.

“Anyone with information on what happened should bring it forward to police.”
