WORK is set to take place this week to address ongoing issues of flooding in the Benview Estate during heavy rain.

Councillor Mickey Cooper has had a number of onsite meetings with statutory agencies to try and get a resolution to the flooding problems there.

Cllr Cooper said: “I have had onsite meetings with the Housing Executive, Rivers Agency and the Road Service in recent times.

“Final works on the culvert pipe at the side of the estate will take place this week.

“Roads Service will also carry out work to the culverts at the top of the estate to ensure a clear flow prior to water entering the drainage system.

“I am hopeful that this work will resolve the issue of flooding at both the top and bottom of the estate once and for all.

“I will continue to engage with residents once the works are complete to get their feedback on the impact it has had in resolving the flooding issues there.”
