16 more deaths, 527 further cases in North

THE Department of Health has reported a further 527 more cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.

That’s a fall of 23 cases on the previous day.

There have been a further 16 deaths (four outside the current reporting period) from the deadly virus bringing the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, to 1,779.

Sadly, one of these deaths has been recorded in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.

In the past week, the Department has recorded 4,246 new cases of Coronavirus.

There has been a further 16 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council in the past 24 hours, a fall of one on figures for Monday.

Within the past week there have been a further 177 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.

That means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 10,592 positive cases within the council boundary.

The Department has now recorded a total of 122 coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date.

Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now at 95 per cent.

There are currently 775 patients in hospital with Coronavirus, with 68 patients currently in intensive care and 56 patients who are on ventilators.

A total of 126 care homes are dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak with a further 492 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
